Meta Ads in B2B: a complementary channel, not a replacement for Google or LinkedIn

Meta Ads (Facebook, Instagram) aren't standard practice in B2B, and I don't treat them as such. The search intent for solutions to business problems is structurally weaker on Meta than on Google or LinkedIn because the platform is primarily designed for private and B2C use. Nevertheless, Meta has a useful role in B2B: as a retargeting and reach channel, provided your target audience is demonstrably active there. I only integrate Meta campaigns where they serve a clear purpose within the overall system, not simply as filler because the channel is already in my portfolio.

Why Meta Ads are often sold incorrectly in B2B

Push: Meta Ads as a complementary channel

Meta Ads is primarily a push channel for me: visibility and reach among a target group that isn't yet actively searching. This is stated as a fact, not hidden, because B2B search intent on meta is rare. The channel is used effectively for two purposes: retargeting website visitors who have already interacted via other channels, and supplementing reach within target group segments that can be precisely defined based on interests and behavior, provided a reliable target group database (e.g., from CRM data) is available.

For whom Meta is still worthwhile

Meta Ads is particularly suitable as a second or third channel in an existing system, not as the first channel for a B2B company just starting out with paid ads. If Google Ads and/or LinkedIn Ads already provide a solid audience and tracking base, Meta can create additional reach and retargeting capacity without blindly relying on a channel with weak B2B search intent.

Honestly assessed

No B2B-specific meta percentage is provided because there is no documented case study of our own. This honesty is part of our promise: no channel is overhyped to achieve more than its actual B2B performance allows.

How much does that cost?

A Meta-Ads mandate with me starts at €2,500 per month, minimum term 6 months, even though Meta is deliberately positioned here as a complementary channel.

Why not a solo entry: Meta Ads is rarely set up as a standalone B2B mandate for me; it usually runs alongside an existing main channel. The price is still separate, even as an add-on.

Combination with other channels: If Meta runs in conjunction with Google and/or LinkedIn, the multi-channel framework applies from €3,000/month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mostly as a supplement, rarely as the primary channel. This depends heavily on whether your target audience is demonstrably active on Meta and whether a retargeting base (website traffic, CRM data) already exists.

Because in certain situations, mostly as a retargeting or reach supplement to Google and LinkedIn, it actually makes a difference. However, it is not being marketed as a replacement for the stronger B2B channels.

I would advise against this in most B2B cases, because meta-tracking without an existing target audience or tracking base offers little substance. This will be discussed in detail during our initial consultation, taking your specific situation into account.

B2C agencies typically come from e-commerce and apply a logic geared towards volume and impulse purchases. In B2B, target group precision and realistic expectations are more important than sheer reach.

The same applies to meta tracking: without clean conversion data, the campaign loses important signals, especially because iOS and ad blockers severely restrict meta tracking.
