Server-side tracking: So that your campaign data isn't lost in the browser.

Most Google Ads and meta accounts optimize based on data collected in the visitor's browser. The problem: Cookie banners, ad blockers, and iOS block some of this data before it even reaches you. The campaign account then learns from an incomplete picture and optimizes accordingly. Server-side tracking moves some of the measurement to your own server, which you control, instead of relying entirely on the browser.

What's broken today

What I am specifically building

  • Google Tag Manager Server container: Own, first-party endpoint instead of purely third-party scripts in the browser.
  • Google Ads Enhanced/Server-Side Conversions: Conversion data is additionally confirmed server-side, not just reported client-side.
  • Meta Conversions API: Server-to-server reporting of conversions, regardless of whether the browser pixel has been blocked.
  • GA4 connection: Designed in such a way that form and purchase events are completed as cleanly as legally permissible, even if consent is refused.

Why hardly any competitor offers this

Server-side tracking is significantly more complex to set up than a standard Google Tracking Manager (GTM) installation in a browser. It requires a dedicated server container, proper domain configuration, and ongoing maintenance as platform requirements change. Most agencies therefore stick with the simpler, but less reliable, browser-based tracking. Those who are willing to put in the extra effort ultimately get measurably more real data, not more guesswork.

How the process looks

01

Technical check

We will review your existing tech stack (CMS, existing tags, cookie consent solution) and determine the exact effort required.

02

Setting up server containers

I will build your GTM server container with its own, first-party endpoint instead of relying solely on third-party scripts in the browser.

03

Connection to your platforms

Google Ads Enhanced/Server-Side Conversions, Meta Conversions API and GA4 are connected and documented on the server side.

04

handover

You will receive a documented handover of the data flows. Ongoing adjustments afterwards are optionally available on an hourly basis or as part of an ad campaign.

Proof

German fintech company

+300% is the measured conversion rate after switching to real CRM lead form data instead of estimated click data. This isn't because more leads were generated, but because previously some of the real conversions simply weren't counted.

DACH workspace providers

-70% Cost per lead based on a clean tracking basis, in the same period as the lead growth in this mandate.

Track Record

Over €50 million in managed advertising budget, more than 10 years of marketing experience across Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads.

How much does that cost?

A server-side tracking setup is a one-off project, estimated from €3,500.

from €3,500 one-time fee

Why not a fixed price upfront: The effort required depends on the existing tech stack (CMS, existing tags, cookie consent solution). €3,500 is the minimum; the exact price will be determined after a brief technical check.

Ongoing support is optional: Subsequent adjustments are charged at an hourly rate of €115-150/hour or as part of an ongoing advertising mandate.

Frequently Asked Questions

If Google Maps currently only runs in the browser (the default), you'll still lose some data due to cookie banners, ad blockers, and iOS. Server-side tracking is an extension of the existing setup, not a replacement.

Server-side tracking does not change the consent requirements themselves; it only changes where the data is technically processed. Consent requirements remain unchanged.

For very small accounts with little traffic/budget, the effort is usually not justified. It only pays off when a significant advertising budget is at stake.

Server-side tracking and a clean CRM connection complement each other: one ensures complete signals on the platform side, the other ensures that every lead retains its true origin in the CRM.
